Why UK Reptile Keepers Are Switching to PVC Enclosures

More and more reptile keepers across the UK are moving away from wooden Vivarium’s and choosing PVC instead. it comes down to how the two materials hold up over years of heat, humidity, and daily use. The Trouble with Wooden Vivarium’s

Wooden Vivarium’s have been the default for a long time, and they have served their purpose. But they were never really built for the conditions we ask them to handle. Heat, moisture and general wear all take their toll. Over time wood swells, warps and rots especially anywhere near a water dish, a humid corner, or a misting system. The surface delaminates, and once that damage sets in, there is no proper fix, you replace the enclosure and start again.

What PVC Actually Is

We tested that thickness thoroughly, and it is more than strong enough for the job. It holds its shape, takes fixings well and gives you a clean, finished surface inside and out.

This is the big one. PVC does not absorb water, so it wont swell or delaminate. You can run a humid setup, mist daily or keep a water feature going and the enclosure will simply not be damaged.
